Currently... {September 2017}

It's been a while since I wrote a currently post! My last one was titled "Coffee Shop Chats", but I've decided to go back to "Currently" to avoid the confusion with my upcoming teen devotional (TBR September 2018). But if you'd like to join in on my currently posts, feel free! Click here for the "rules". ;)

What  I've been up to recently ...
These past few months have been a whirlwind, to say the least! Labor Day weekend was the first *breather* I've had since mid-July. (So please forgive me if you've sent me an email that I haven't responded to yet. I'll get caught up eventually!)

Over the spring and summer, I've had the amazing opportunity to travel to various writing conferences and meet other writers, clients, and new friends. Then, this past month I was buried in my writing cave (and went on a writing retreat to the mountains!) to plug away on my teen devotional.

(For those of who you don't know: The teen devotional is tentatively titled "Coffee Shop Chats" and will be released with Bethany House September 2018. It includes 180 devotions and 10 coffee recipes for teens!)

Pictures Taken ...

Here are *some* of the pictures I've taken over the past few months ...
One of my best friends and fellow YA author, Caroline George, came home from college!

Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference 2017.
Love this place and these people!

With the faculty at SoCal Christian Writers Conference!
First time meeting YA authors, Shannon Dittemore and Jill Williamson. =)

Meeting the talented YA authors, Nadine Brandes and Kara Swanson (who is now my client at Hartline)!

Making memories with new friends at SoCal Christian Writers Conference. =)

Special time with my family in FL

Greater Philly Christian Writers Conference! I had the chance to lead the teen track, and I met a blogger friend of mine (and fellow YA author), Stephanie Kehr. She's the sweetest!

Visited my sister, Tara Brose, in NYC! It was my last time to visit her before she and her husband move to Bali.

Saying bye to Caroline before she left for her final semester at Belmont University!

  • Recently sent the manuscript for "Coffee Shop Devos"to my editor. Yay!
  • Finishing the sequel to Purple Moon. (Okay, this project has taken for-ever. But I haven't officially given it 100% of my focus -- it's been more on the back burner. However, my goal is to finish it by late October. Prayers appreciated!
  • Creating video course material for Young Writers Workshop and Serious Writers Academy

Currently Sipping On ...

  • "The Creative Call" by Janice Elsheimer
  • "Redemption" by Karen Kingsbury

Current To-Read List ...

  • There are so many books on my to read list pile; it's impossible to include all of them. But here's one that I'm most looking forward to reading. "The Writers Desk" by Rachel Hauck. I haven't read any of her books, but I've heard incredible things about them! Have you read this one?

Currently Praying For ...
  • Those affected by the hurricane in Texas
  • Hurricane Irma and those in its path (including my oldest sister and her husband who live in FL)
  • My sister and her husband, who are currently on a mission trip in Africa and are soon moving to Bali!

Coffee Shop Chats: Interactive Reflection {Autumn 2016}

Pin This!

About Coffee Shop Chats:

I love blogging, but sometimes I wish there was a way that I could connect with each of you.
Personally. Perhaps over a cup of coffee.

We could share the highlights of our week, discuss the books we've been reading, what God is doing in our lives, and even share any prayer requests we may have.

So, I came up with the idea of Coffee Shop Chats.

Instead of my Currently posts, I now post this reflection of the week (or month, or season). You are welcome to participate as well! I want this to be a way to learn more about each of you and how I can pray for you. Maybe this will help you meet other blogger friends as well. =)

You may post your Coffee Shop Chat whenever you'd like! Just be sure to add your link to the latest Coffee Shop Chat link-up at the end of this post. (That way, we can all interact with one another.)

Rules & Guidelines:

  1. No, you don't have to be a coffee fan to participate. =)
  2. Add the link to your Coffee Shop Chat post in the latest link-up (which will be listed on the latest Coffee Shop Chat post).
  3. Include the link to this post so your readers can understand the rules.
  4. Before you post, make sure that you comment on at least one other blogger's post. (The point of this is to begin forming relationships and interacting with one another, as if we were in an actual coffee shop. ;) )
  5. Include the below image on your post.
  6. Be nice and have fun!

How to post:

  1. Use any of the LISTS PROMPTS located at the end of this post. Feel free to add your own!
  2. Everyone who participates must answer at least 2 questions listed under CONVO STARTERS posted by myself or another participant.
  3. At the end of your post, include 2 - 5 questions/convo starters for your readers to answer as well!
Questions? Let me know! It sounds complicated, but it's actually pretty simple. ;)

What I did this week:

Last Saturday, Caroline George and I taught a Write Now Writer's Workshop for both teens and adults. We shared experiences from our own publishing journey, taught techniques that challenge students to bring their writing to the next level, and gave an overview of the publishing industry. This was tons of fun! I love connecting with writers in person, helping them in their journey -- and, of course, hosting a "party-style" workshop that involves an endless amount of chocolate and coffee. ;)

Pictures Taken:

Here are some pics I've taken over the past couple of months . . .

Hall delivers a poignant story of two teens’ love for music and struggles for independence. She beautifully blends themes of love and trust with perceived realities and discoveries of the truth. This is a story you will want to read again and again.” ~Katy Kauffman, award-winning author of Faith, Courage, and Victory
