And I was going to find him. Even if it meant searching these haunted woods.
I tried to walk quietly, but I was no hunter. I felt a sudden, cold shiver run down my spine.
Someone was watching me.
Turning a slow circle, I could see nothing but darkness closing in.
A twig snapped.
I spun in the other direction, my dress rustling leaves. But it didn’t matter. Whoever was watching already knew I was here.
And without any warning, it sprang. Quicker than a cat, silent as a shadow. It knocked me to the ground, I would have screamed if its hand hadn’t covered my mouth.
It was a boy. A dozen thoughts ran through my mind when I saw his face. Hazel eyes bored into me, and his hand felt painfully tight. My heart beat at a frantic pace as my breath came out in agitated puffs.
I knew who he was.
And the knowledge hurt.
As the boy slowly withdrew his hand, I whispered, “Xavier?”
“Be quiet,” he roughly pulling me to my feet. “Follow me.”
“Why didn’t you come back?” My pained voice was choked. “You promised me. You said everything would be alright.”
He just kept walking.
“Xavier.” I said. “Xavier, unless you tell me what’s going on, I’m not following you anywhere.”
He whirled to face me, and held my gaze for a moment. “They’re here, Rebecca. They found us. After all these years … I tried to protect you, but … ” He shook his head, striding forward once more. “God help us, they’ve returned.”

~ Savannah P. He coughed into his handkerchief.
Hurry up, Alec! Hurry up and finish it!
Time was of the essence. Once past this point, things will never be the same again. That was something he knew.
I have to get this to Lucy!
Hacking into his handkerchief again, he picked up the paper he had been writing on and fanned it to help dry the ink. Black letters coiled together making the address.
I just hope it gets there in time. He thought. Or Lu is as good as gone.
~*~
Closing the mail box, Lucy sifted through the electric, water and other bills. Black spiraling letters caught her eye.
Alec! So you finally decided to write to me. It’s only been five months.
Lucy smiled to herself and tore it open. The message was short but it made her heart stop in mid beat.
Lu, they are on to you. Get out of there. Now!
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7093187878739089807.post-12468745885246540402015-08-23T16:45:34.675-07:002015-08-23T16:45:34.675-07:00Items prompt: paint, ginger, handle.

Story:
Ira took the ink blotted handkerchief from his fingers.
“Now Sammy, what have you been doing to yourself?” she asked, taking his chubby hand in hers. He poured out his tale of woe, sniffing and hiccuping the whole time. She put on her most motherly air, at least the most she could at the age of six, and gave him a new handkerchief
“I jus’ couldn’t find daddy! An’ de ink was gettin’ eveywhere, an’ all I had was a hanky, so I used it. But de ink’s still on de couch, and I can’t get it off, and daddy’s gonna be mad!” he finished.
Ira wiped a tear from his cheek.
“Don’t cry, Sammy.” she said, sweeping a stained blonde curl away from his forehead.
“But I’m so scared of daddy! He get’s awful mad!” his big gray eyes clouded over with the thought of his father.
“Don’t be worrying your little head over that, darling.” She cooed. “ I’ll explain!” The boy’s face brightened visibly.
“You will?”
“Course, silly!” she smiled. He laid his head on her lap, with a fond sigh. Ira laid a hand on his head, and stroked it.
“I love you, Ira.” he murmured presently
“I love you too, Sammy.” She patted his back, and then stood up.
“How ‘bout you an’ me’s go on over to my house fer some cookies?” she asked, forgetting to use good grammar.
“Gee, what a swell idea!” He beamed. She whisked up his hand, and they tore off down the street to the little antique shop on the corner of Graham, and 111th street.

Items: pen, glass, lamp
Picture: http://globe-views.com/dcim/dreams/fog/fog-01.jpg
Sentence: The fog lifted for a moment, just long enough to see.
Esther Eckstinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01426316656857357188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7093187878739089807.post-85328961316805991972015-08-18T14:18:55.332-07:002015-08-18T14:18:55.332-07:00Item propmts: key, bobby pin, pearl
