I laid a hesitant hand on the door, and it took barely any of my strength to push it open. It almost fell off its hinges. Eyes wide, I set one foot inside. Dust clouded where my skirt brushed the ground.
Trying hard not to cough, I took a look around. A lofty crumbling staircase, a piano with missing keys, a dust-coated chandelier that seemed to only just be hanging on. Nervously twisting a lock of hair around my finger, I glanced about for any sign of life. Was this the right place?
I whirled at the squeak of a mouse, only to see its tail disappear through a hole in the wall. Giving a shudder, I walked in a little farther.
“Hello?” My whisper sounded like a shout in this empty place. “I … I’m here.”
I thought I might have heard a scuffle of movement, and froze. Then a voice echoed down from the top of the staircase.
“So you are.”
It was a rough, growling voice like that of an animal, and it sent shivers up my spine. I thanked heaven that it … whatever it was … hadn’t come down the stairs yet.
I steeled myself and spoke again. “Do you have my sister?”
“I do.”
That was all? “Can … can I have her back? Please?”
“Follow me.”
He expected me to go up those crumbling stairs up to … to him? I felt panic rising in me. “Sir, I-I would rather-“
“Come with me, or your sister stays where she is.”
Biting my lip, I tried to stop the trembling in my legs. I didn’t really have a choice. Clenching my skirt in my hands, I put one foot on the bottom stair, and began to climb.

~Savannah Perran Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7093187878739089807.post-53342343028879380962015-12-03T15:06:29.748-08:002015-12-03T15:06:29.748-08:00Items prompt: Chain, dagger, dress

Here it is; I used to the sentence prompt.

“When I said, ‘Meet me here at midnight, your life depends on it’, you knew I was joking, right?”
“I never take you seriously.” Paul laughed as I rolled my eyes. The car’s headlights winked off as I turned off the engine and stepped out. A crisp wind blew through the bare trees, causing them to dance in the light of the moon.
“It’s such a nice night.” Paul said as I zipped up my coat, “Are you sure you want to do this?” As he questioned by intentions, Paul flicked on a flashlight and shone it up a long and narrow trial. I pulled on my gloves and bent over to check it my boots were tied, “Of course.” Paul nodded, “Alright then. After you,” He swept his hands out in front of him, as he was a gentleman, beckoning the fair lady onward. Tonight, the both of us were as far from a fair lady and gentleman as we could possibly get. What we were about to do was underhanded, deplorable, daring, and plain stupid. Our lives could very well depend on what happened between now and tomorrow night. But we didn’t think about failure; Paul and I were going to push on…no matter the costs.
“Let’s go,”

Angela Beatricenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7093187878739089807.post-91493739033674313002015-11-30T14:54:16.478-08:002015-11-30T14:54:16.478-08:00Congrats everyone! :-) :-)
